Mosquitoes Test Positive for West Nile Virus in Hamden

The Quinnipiack Valley Health District received confirmation that a Mosquito Trapping Surveillance Station in Hamden, maintained by the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station (CAES) had a mosquito pool from July 28, 2025 test positive for West Nile Virus (WNV). The trapping site is located at Lake Wintergreen (Hamden). The CAES routinely monitors mosquito trapping sites between June and October.

HOLIDAY CLOSURE NOTICE:

Please be advised, the Quinnipiack Valley Health District (QVHD) will be CLOSED on Monday, September 1st in observance of Labor Day.

QVHD will reopen Tuesday, September 2nd at 8:30 AM.
